Upper Egyptian music and dance is beloved in Egypt and around the world for its earthy nature and exciting stick work. Raqs assaya (stick dance) incorporates elements of tahteeb martial art with Egyptian stage dance, blending the masculine and feminine in a fun and surprising way. Learn a full choreography to a classic Saidi song in this 10 week series.

Optional performance opportunity for dancers who want to take this choreography to the stage as a group. Must be able to attend rehearsals and budget $150 for costuming (we will do our best to keep it as low as possible).

Class dates: 1/6, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27, 2/10, 2/17, 2/24, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17
Performance rehearsal dates: 3/31, 4/7
Dress rehearsal: 4/5 from 11:00 - 4:00pm
