Seattle-based House of Tarab will be joining Al Wadi Dance Company in Portland for an enchanting evening of Arabic music and raqs sharqi. “Sahra” (or “sahret” when possessive) is an Arabic word that means “evening,” but can also be used to refer to a nice soirée. “Tarab” describes a state of rapture created by music—specifically Arabic music.
Enjoy beer, wine, and light snacks as you listen to classic compositions from the Golden Era of Egyptian music and film, music of Al Sham region (Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine), and greater Southwest Asia and North Africa. Heather & Ella will get the dance party started! Come dressed to impress and ready to be swept away.
