Yalla, Portland!
That means let’s go, Rose City ;)
Coming up!
Our 2025 spring showcase is on Sunday, April 13th. Al Wadi students have been working diligently on their choreographies all winter—join us and celebrate their hard work!
About Al Wadi
Al Wadi Dance Company is a raqs sharqi (belly dance) education and performance collaborative from Heather Louise and Ella Moore. We offer joyful, engaging, and culturally connected instruction grounded in Egyptian traditions.
“Wadi” means “valley” in Arabic; the company name pays tribute to our location in the Willamette Valley. Just like the Nile Valley in Egypt, the Willamette Valley’s fertile soils have heavily shaped its population’s way of life. An elegant earthiness defines both our surroundings in Portland, Oregon and the essence of raqs sharqi.

Classes
Our 2025 Spring term runs from May 19 to June 26.

Location
Al Wadi is housed at Studio Datura - 116 NE Russell St, Portland, OR 97212
In addition to Al Wadi’s in-person classes, Studio Datura is the home of the online belly dance school Datura Online, and The 8 Elements of Belly Dance taught by Rachel Brice.
A former space of the Portland Prince Hall Masons, this studio has stunning woodwork, huge windows, and a spacious dressing room. Please note that this historic building is not ADA accessible due to its stairs.
